You're reading: Ukraine faces 12.1 percent decline in industrial output in July

Industrial production in Ukraine in July 2014 declined by 12.1 percent year-over-year, against a decline in industrial production of 5 percent in June 2014 and 2.1 percent in May 2014, Ukraine's State Statistics Service has said.

Industrial production in Donetsk region fell by 28.5 percent and in Luhansk
region by 56 percent. Figures for the latter may change after an update,
however, the service said.

Industrial production for January-July as a whole slowed to 5.8 percent from 4.7 percent in January-June 2014 and 4.6 percent in January-May 2014.

The State Statistics Service reported that industrial production in January-July last year declined by 4.9 percent.

Industrial production in July 2014 from June 2014 slid by 2.2 percent.

The processing industry in July 2014 saw a 12.1 percent decline from July 2013.

The steepest decline was recorded in the manufacture of motor
vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers (38.1 percent), coal mining (28.7 percent),
machine-building (23.8 percent), chemical production (22.2 percent), the manufacture
of machinery and equipment not assigned to other groups (16.9 percent), coke
production and oil refining (15.9 percent), the production of rubber and
plastic goods and other non-metallic mineral commodities (13.8 percent).

At the same time, pharmaceutical production saw a 4.1 percent increase, and
the manufacture of computers, electronic and optical products showed
2.6 percent growth.

Production in the mining industry in July 2014 decreased by 12.7 percent year-over-year.

As reported, industrial production fell by 4.7 percent in 2013 compared with a 0.5 percent decline in 2012.
