You're reading: Ukraine’s airlines in nine months reduce passenger traffic by 17.8 percent

Ukrainian airlines in Jan.-Sept. 2014 carried 5.141 million passengers, 55,700 tonnes of cargo and mail, which is 17.8% and 25% respectively down from the same period of 2013. 

According to the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure, for the first nine months Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) reduced passenger transportation by 13.9%, Windrose – 10.3%, UTair-Ukraine – by 19.8%, Wizz Air Ukraine – by 8.3%.

Kharkiv Airlines increased passenger traffic by 2.1 times, Dniproavia – by 35%.

“In general, Ukrainian airlines on international regular routes in the nine months carried 3.037 million people, which is 6% less than last year. Ukrainian carriers in January-September operated 17,400 charter flights, which is 17.1% less than in the corresponding period a year earlier,” reads a statement.

On domestic scheduled routes national air services transported 504,500 passengers, which is 42.4% less than in January September 2013.

In January-September this year, passenger and freight transportation was carried out by 38 domestic airlines, passenger transportation – 25 air carriers.
