Starting from Oct. 13 the State Veterinary and Biosecurity Service of Ukraine will introduce a temporary ban on imports of products that are subject to veterinary controls from the territory of Crimea.
According to the report, in connection with the extraordinary situation regarding the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, namely the creation of the Crimea free economic zone with a special regime of economic activities on the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine, the conducting of sanitary control and supervision of the epizootic situation by the service is impossible here.
With reference to information from the International Epizootic Bureau and Rosselkhoznadzor, the service said that cases of especially dangerous diseases of animals and birds are constantly registered in the Russian Federation (African swine fever, foot and mouth disease, avian influenza), the situation is also unstable on the territory of the Customs Union. In particular, a batch of meat products produced in Belarus was withdrawn from circulation in Russia, as African swine fever pathogens were identified in the meat.
