The State Railway Administration of Ukraine (Ukrzaliznytsia) in January-August 2012 repaired 13,100 gondola cars, the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia has reported.

The press service said that the performing of scheduled repairs of
gondola cars belonging to Ukrzaliznytsia exceeded the target by 3% in
the eight months ending August 31, 2012.

Six specialized depots of Prydniprovska and Donetsk railways repaired
the cars: the Baturynska, Debaltsevo-Sortuvalne, Krasnoarmiysk,
Mudrena, Nyzhniudniprovsk-Vuzol and Yasynuvata depots.

“In August, the depots of Donetsk railways showed good results,
repairing 701 cars, with 700 planned for repair,” the report said,
citing the head of the chief wagon department at Ukrzaliznytsia,
Anatoliy Rakipov.

The deputy head of the Yasynuvata depot for repairs, Valeriy
Kovalevsky, said that while last year the depot repaired 120-140 gondola
cars per month, now it repairs 200 cars per month. The task has been
set to bring the repair volumes to 250 cars per month.

The Yasynuvata depot introduced a three-shift schedule instead of a
two-shift one, equipped an additional welding post, and installed a
third bridge crane in the assembly workshop.

Ukrzaliznytsia said that the depot started repairing cars as a part
of the creation of the wagon companies of Ukrainian railways. The
Baturynska, Debaltsevo-Sortuvalne, Krasnoarmiysk, Mudrena,
Nyzhniudniprovsk-Vuzol and Yasynuvata depots were selected to repair
gondola cars on the balance sheets of state-run enterprises – the
Ukrspetsvahon and Darnytsia wagon repair plants.

As reported, the state-owned enterprises to which the wagons of
Ukrzaliznytsia were transferred repaired 9,369 high-sided wagons in
January-June 2012.
