Kyiv, March 3 (Interfax-Ukraine) – State Railways Administration Ukrzaliznytsia has signed agreements on the joint organization of freight transportation across the state border with the railways of four neighboring countries, including Poland, Slovakia, Romania and Hungary.

According to the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia, currently talks are being held with the railroad administration of Bulgaria.

"In general, Ukrzaliznytsia has to sign joint freight transportation agreements with 15 carriers from five countries sharing common borders with Ukraine, in which the rules for using freight cars are used," reads a press release citing Ukrzaliznytsia Deputy Director General Petro Naumenko.

According to him, calculations of the fees for the use of freight rolling stock that is on the books of Ukrzaliznytsia’s wagon repair enterprises need to be included in the 2012 contracts.

According to Naumenko, the calculations will be the same for cargo handling with the wagons of Ukrainian state wagon companies, which now have about 42,000 cars. Thus, the payment for using these wagons will be the same as that for using Ukrzaliznytsia’s inventory rolling stock.

"We signed bilateral agreements that foresee payment rates for using freight wagons, the necessary rules of use for freight cars, and formalization of the acceptation and transfer of wagons," he said.
