You're reading: Underlying inflation in Ukraine slows to 0.8 percent in July 2014

Underlying inflation in Ukraine in July 2014 came to 0.8 percent compared to 1.4 percent in June, 2.3 percent in May and 2.8 percent in April, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine has reported.

According to the report, underlying inflation has amounted to 9.4 percent since early 2014.

In annual terms underlying inflation accelerated to 9.9 percent from 9 percent in June, 7.5 percent in May, 5.1 percent in April 2014 an 2.1 percent in March 2014.

Underlying inflation does not include short-term irregular changes in
prices influenced by various factors of an administrative, event-based
or seasonal character. For instance, it does not include changes in the
price of food and energy.

In 2012-2013, monthly underlying inflation varied within 0.1 percent.

Consumer prices in Ukraine grew by 0.5 percent in 2013 and by 11.6 percent since
early 2014. In July inflation slowed to 0.4 percent from 1 percent in June, 3.8 percent in
May and 3.3 percent in April, while in annual terms it accelerated to 12.6 percent
from 12 percent in June.
