Lithuanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevicius has said that the European Union will be ready to sign an Association Agreement with Ukraine in Vilnius later this year, if Kyiv meets the set requirements.

The foreign minister, who will be in chair for the EU starting from
the second half of 2013, as well as host the Eastern Partnership Summit,
said this while commenting on the decision of the European Commission
to recommend the EU Council to sign the Association Agreement, if Kyiv
carries out reforms until then, according to the Baltic News Service
(BNS).

The minister said the Commission’s decision was “a technical but very important step.”

“The EU side is moving technically and legally on schedule. Success
will depend on Ukraine’s progress. If Ukraine is ready, the EU will also
be ready,” the minister told BNS on Wednesday.
