European Parliament observers former EP President Pat Cox and former Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski have arrived for a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada's working group on preparing a draft law on the medical treatment of prisoners abroad.

As known, by the time of the Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius (on Nov. 28-29), at which the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement can be signed, the Ukrainian parliament should adopt three laws, in particular, on resolving the issue of former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, on the prosecutor’s office (adopted at first reading), and on amendments to the electoral law (passed at first reading).

A special working group has been set up in parliament to resolve the issue of Tymoshenko, and it is working out an agreed bill on the medical treatment of prisoners abroad. The parliament’s agenda for this week does not yet include an agreed bill.

Cox and Kwasniewski arrived in Kyiv on Nov. 19. They are expected to stay in Ukraine until Friday, Nov. 22.
