Finance Minister of Ukraine Oleksandr Shalpak has discussed cooperation in the energy, financial and agricultural sectors at a meeting with International Finance Corporation (IFC) Executive Vice President Jin-Yong Cai, the press service of the government reported on Oct. 12.

‘The sides discussed a strategy for the corporation’s operation in the Ukrainian energy sector, in particular, in the context of providing trade financing, IFC’s participation in the modernization of the gas transport system and the increase of effectiveness of the exploration of energy resources in Ukraine,’ reads the report.

The sides also paid attention to the stirring up of cooperation in the financial and agricultural sectors.

Shlapak expressed gratitude to the IFC top managers for their readiness at supporting the ambitious reforms program of the Ukrainian government by concrete projects.

The Ukrainian finance minister also held a meeting with German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble.

‘The ministers discussed the political and economic situation in Ukraine, the government’s plans on the continuation of the implementation of a package of reforms, in particular, in the area of government finances and energy,’ reads the report.

Shlapak thanked Schäuble for the humanitarian aid provided and expressed hope that cooperation in this format will continue.
