The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine thinks that the European Union has changed its approach to the signing of the Association Agreement with Ukraine lately.

“In the light of recent intensification of the ‘Russian factor’, we can see that the EU has changed priorities and probably its vision of the situation with the signing of the Association Agreement in a wider context,” Director of the Foreign Ministry’s EU Department Vsevolod Chentsov said during an annual conference of the Ukrainian National Platform in Kyiv on Monday.

He mentioned recent statements by the EU leaders regarding Kyiv’s aspiration for European integration, as well as the European Parliament’s resolution in response to Russia’s recent actions against Eastern Partnership member states.

“Today we can confirm that both sides have the political will to sign the Association Agreement during the summit in Vilnius,” the diplomat said.

According to Chentsov, the Ukrainian side has done a lot for the signing of the agreement and its Foreign Ministry hopes that the current positive dynamics will be stable.
