Vilnius – The signing of the association agreement between Ukraine and the EU this year depends only on Ukraine, Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaite has said.
She said at a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in Vilnius on Wednesday that Lithuania had always supported Ukraine and had assessed the reforms conducted in Ukraine.
“Yes, the work is being conducted, but it’s insufficient,” Grybauskaite said.
She also said that the EU Council had clearly defined the main areas of work for Ukraine, which are needed to speed up European integration.
“Lithuania is certainly interested in this direction of work – in the direction of European integration, but the question is whether the agreement with Ukraine is signed this year, and it depends primarily on Ukraine itself,” she said.
