The Slovak parliament will consider the issue of the ratification of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement by the end of this week, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin has said.

‘This week it [the ratification of Ukraine-EU agreement] isn’t the last ratification. A very good friend of mine, with whom we earlier initialed the Association Agreement, [Slovak Foreign Minister] Miroslav Lajcak, will present the agreement in the Slovak parliament,’ he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.

Besides, Klimkin reported that by the end of September the ratification of this agreement by several EU member states is scheduled. However, he failed to disclose the names of these countries, adding that this is ‘in the competence of each of these countries.’

Klimkin also said that when the Association Agreement has been elaborated, the experts estimated the terms of its final ratification by the EU countries at 4-5 years.

‘This is the most pessimistic scenario,’ he said.

At the same time Klimkin assured that the Ukrainian side together with the European partners is doing its best to speed up this process.

‘Some my colleagues – foreign ministers – promised that it would be quicker than usual,’ the minister said.
