You're reading: Klimkin: Text of EU-Ukraine Association Agreement not changing

Text of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement will not be changed, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said.

“As to association: our Rus. [Russian] colleagues should not indulge in wishful thinking. We will not change the agreement text. We will ratify and implement,” Klimkin twitted on Aug. 27.

“The key words of Aug. 26: peace, hostages, border and gas. Communication exists on all directions and this is the most important thing. Though it was not and will not be easy for us,” Klimkin said regarding the meeting between president of the Customs Union, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and high representatives of the European Union, which took place in Minsk on Aug. 26.

It is hoped that Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada will ratify the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement and Ukraine will hand over the documents ratified to relevant EU agencies, Poroshenko said earlier.

“As Ukrainian president I will submit in mid September the association agreement to Verkhovna Rada for ratification and I hope Ukraine will hand over the documents ratified [to the EU] by late Sept.,” Poroshenko said at a briefing joint with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Kyiv on Aug. 23.
