Visa regulations between Ukraine and the European Union could be relaxed as early as in 2015, Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada Chairman Oleksandr Turchynov has said.

“We hope that visa regulations between Ukraine and the European Union will be simplified at the beginning of the new year,” Turchynov said at a meeting with a European Parliament delegation monitoring early elections to the Verkhovna Rada in Kyiv on Friday.

Turchynov told the international observers that the parliament had completed its part of the work aimed at facilitating visa regulations with the EU, the parliamentary press service said.

He also added that the government had financed the purchase of equipment to arrange the issuance of biometric passports in Ukraine.
