The adoption of the anti-corruption bill before the extraordinary parliamentary election to be held on Oct. 26, 2014 will be a confirming signal of Ukraine's plans to conduct reforms, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker has said.

Decisive actions in fighting corruption are a very important issue, she said at a briefing in Kyiv on Sept. 27.

We want the anti-corruption bill submitted to the parliament to be passed before the election, she said.

The business community in and outside Ukraine is monitoring whether it can be passed now, Pritzker said.

She said that the adoption of the bill would be a very important signal that Ukraine had taken on liabilities to conduct reforms.
