You're reading: US wants cooperation with Ukraine in energy, agricultural sectors

The United States is mulling possible cooperation with Ukraine in the energy and agricultural sectors, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker has said.

She said at a briefing in Kyiv on Sept. 28, when asked about the prospects of supplies of U.S. energy, military equipment to Ukraine and the interest of the United States in Ukrainian goods and technologies, that this had taken up a large part of the discussion with the president and the prime minister of Ukraine to find out in what economic sectors cooperation was possible.

‘We will focus attention on the agricultural sector,’ Pritzker said. She said that the president and prime minister believe that there are large prospects in this direction.

She said that this also concerns the energy sector.

Pritzker noted that various segments of the Ukrainian energy sector should be studied, and then the United States can determine in which areas it will cooperate with Ukraine.

‘[We want] to help Ukraine to develop its energy security,’ she said.
