You're reading: Kyivstar services nearly 60,000 foreign subscribers during Euro 2012

Mobile communications operator JSC Kyivstar during the Euro 2012 European Football Championship serviced 58,800 foreign subscribers, the operator's press service told Interfax-Ukraine.

The largest number of roamers came from Russia (26.2%). In addition,
the share of roamers from Estonia amounted to 14% of the total number of
foreign customers serviced by Kyivstar, from the United States 2.1%,
from Poland 1.9%, and from other countries 55.8%.

The highest activities of roaming subscribers in Kyiv were observed
during the final match on July 1: the operator serviced 30,400 foreign
users. In Kharkiv Kyivstar services were most in demand from foreign
visitors during the match between the Netherlands and Germany on June 13
(19,300). In Lviv the largest number of roamers (17,900) was registered
during the match between Germany and Portugal on June 9. In Donetsk the
highest activity of foreign users was observed during the game between
France and England on June 11 (12,300).

The voice traffic during the tournament grew by 5.3% on the same
period last year. The maximum load on the network was seen in the first
two weeks of the championship.

The volume of the mobile Internet rose by 23.8%, the highest increase in the traffic was observed in Kyiv and Lviv.

“In general, the consumption of all types of mobile services grew
during the football championship. However, the main contribution to this
increase was made by Ukrainian football fans, who actively used the
mobile Internet and voice communications,” said Kyivstar.
