The Donbas Arena stadium has not only confirmed its reputation as one of the best stadiums in the world, but also positively influenced the image of Donetsk as a host city of the Euro 2012 European Football Championship and Ukraine in general, Secretary of Donetsk City Council Mykola Levchenko has said.

On June 15, a downpour interrupted the match between Ukraine and France, but the game was resumed after an hour, as soon as water was removed by the drainage system and the pitch was again in a playable condition.

“Everyone who watched the match at the stadium and on TV saw how excellently the stadium’s engineering system coped with the rain,” Levchenko said in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.

Earlier, UEFA President Michel Platini, France coach Laurent Blanc and the players of both teams praised the good work of the engineering service at Donbas Arena.
