You're reading: Preparation of Lviv region for Euro 2012 cost UAH 12.5 billion

Lviv – Lviv region, in the period of preparations for Euro 2012, implemented projects and performed work worth UAH 12.5 billion, gaining vast experience in the organization of large-scale professional projects, the deputy head of Lviv Regional State Administration on preparations for Euro 2012, Volodymyr Hubytsky, has said.

"I believe that we worked quite actively when preparing for Euro 2012. Preparation for the it gave our region a serious platform for the implementation of large-scale projects in the future, such as EuroBasket 2015 and Olympic Hope 2022," Hubytsky said.

According to him, the total cost of preparations for Euro 2012 included state funds (73%, or UAH 9 billion), local budget funds (6%, or UAH 800 million), and funds of investors and own funds of enterprises and organizations (21%, or UAH 2.6 billion).

As a result, the region gained a new stadium, a new airport terminal and an upgraded runway at the airport. Two stadiums in Lviv were also reconstructed for UAH 129.5 million.

The preparation of public roads cost UAH 466.25 million.

"The road work was completed on the main directions of movement of guests and fans from the Ukrainian-Polish border to Lviv: Lviv-Rava-Ruska, Lviv-Krakovets, the eastern bypass of Lviv. The repair work is being completed on the Lviv-Shehyni (the Shehyni checkpoint) road, access roads to the Truskavets resort city," the press service said citing Hubytsky.
