Thirty-six-year-old Turkish referee Cuneyt Cakir will officiate at the match between Ukraine and Sweden during the Euro 2012 European Football Championship on June 11 in Kyiv, according to UEFA. His assistant and the reserve referee will also be from Turkey.
This year Cakir worked at the Barcelona-Chelsea semifinals match of the Champions League, during which he sent John Terry off the pitch for intentionally kicking Alexis Sanchez.
Cakir also refereed a Europa League match between Manchester City and Dynamo Kyiv, during which he removed Mario Balotelli from the pitch and showed eight yellow cards. Dynamo lost that match 0-1, but won through to the next stage on aggregate.
