Brussels - MEPs have warned Kyiv against the use of force against Ukrainians protesting against the suspension of the process of Ukraine's European integration.

“We strongly warn the Ukrainian authorities to refrain from using force against peaceful protestors, otherwise, serious consequences will have to follow,” two key MEPs responsible for the Eastern Partnership policy, Foreign Affairs Committee chair Elmar Brok and rapporteur on Ukraine Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, said in a joint statement on Tuesday.

They also expressed their strongest support for many thousands of Ukrainians who are gathering on European Square in Kyiv and other cities in Ukraine in protest against the government’s decision depriving them of their European future.

They said that the door to the EU for the Ukrainian people remains open.
