You're reading: Over 40 protest participants hospitalized in Kyiv, authorities say

According to the latest information of the Kyiv City State Administration health care department, as of 6 a.m. on Monday 103 participants of the protest staged on Jan. 19 have sought emergency medical care. 

At the same time, 42 injured people have been admitted to hospitals, the health care department press office said.

Four people have sustained serious – eye and limb – injuries and other injuries include trauma, bruising, lacerations and head injuries, the department said.

Over 70 policemen have been injured during the resistance at European Square in central Kyiv and 49 of them have been admitted to hospitals, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry press office said overnight into January 20. The law enforcement employees injured have been diagnosed with “head injuries, fractures, bruising and poisoning with unidentified substances,” the press office said.

The Interior Ministry has not provided new information on those injured for now.
