“The fact was registered properly in the register of Dzerzhynsky
district police office in Kharkiv and witnesses are being questioned to
collect primary materials and make a decision under the current
legislation,” reads the statement.
The police office said that at around 1:30 a.m. they received a call and
were informed that “the participants of the protest against the language
law allegedly were attacked and their four national flags were stolen,
agitation materials were cut off by a knife, torn off, and stolen.”
According to the police office, an investigatory and operational group
was sent immediately to the scene of the attack.
As reported, unidentified sportive people attacked a camp of
protesters against the adoption of the language law on August 15 at
night in Kharkiv. According to the protesters, they had to wait for the
arrival of the police for more than an hour.
