High-speed Hyundai Rotem trains, purchased by Ukrainian Railways this year, continue their story of frequent breakdowns. And Ukrainians, in turn, find humor in mocking the unfortunate trains.

In this hilarious video released on Dec. 22, a group of young people sings popular “Gangnam Style” song and dances the recognizable “gangnam” dance in a Hyundai Rotem train going from Donetsk to Kyiv. Ironically, Gangnam Style’s original performer, PSY, is from South Korea, the country where Hyundai trains come from.

“Op-op-opa Hyundai style,” sings the group’s leader, walking in an almost empty train car.

The song’s lyrics, originally in Korean, were replaced by Russian text, uncovering the train’s problems, saying “we just departed and stopped soon,” “there’s something wrong with electronics” and “it’s so very cold in here.”

Lately Hyundai trains also became the main object of online jokes and spoof pictures in Ukraine’s Internet. See Kyiv Post’s weekly feature “Week in wacky pictures.”
