Europe's top soccer governing body, the Union of European Football Associations has announced the 12 referees who have been appointed by its Referees Committee to take charge of matches at the Euro 2012 finals in Poland and Ukraine.

Ukrainian referee Viktor Shvetsov, who hails from Odesa, is among the group of elite referees, but will be in reserve.

For the first time in the history of the UEFA European Championship, the referees will have added support thanks to a decision by football’s lawmakers, the International Football Association Board (IFAB), to allow the continuation of the experiment in the use of additional assistant referees. The full referee teams will be announced in due course.
