You're reading: First deputy economy minister Sasha Borovik granted Ukrainian citizenship

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has granted Ukrainian citizenship to Sasha Borovik, who has recently been appointed as First Deputy Minister of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine.

“The president granted me citizenship early this week, and the Ukrainian government invited me to serve as first deputy of Economy Minister Aivaras Abromavicius,” Borovik wrote on Facebook on March 14.

Abromavicius, a partner of asset management company East Capital, was appointed economy minister in December 2014.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved Ruslan Korzh as his deputy on February 4. Korzh was previously the managing partner of the CIS-states division of the international company A.T.Kearney. Now Korzh’s focus is management of state property and industrial policy.

On February 18, the Cabinet appointed Maxim Nefyodov as deputy economy minister. Nefyodov has been a co-managing partner of ICON Private Equity since November 2010 and controlled this direct investment fund’s investments in Ukraine. Before working at ICON Private Equity, in 2006-2010 he worked for Dragon Capital, where he became director for investment banking. For three years prior to that he worked fir investment company Golden Gate Business as an M&A analyst.

Sasha Borovik, born in Lviv, is a Harvard graduate. Prior to his recent appointment, he was the EMEA head of Akamai Technologies’ legal department in London.
