Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will pay a working visit to Brussels on Aug. 30, the Ukrainian presidential press service reported.

“Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has accepted an invitation from European Council President Herman Van Rompuy and European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso to make a working visit to Brussels on Aug. 30,” the presidential website reported, following a telephone conversation between Poroshenko and Barroso.

The Ukrainian presidential press service had reported earlier that Minsk would host a top-level Ukraine-European Union-Customs Union meeting on Aug. 26 to address the implementation of the EU-Ukraine association agreement, energy security, and efforts to stabilize the situation in eastern Ukraine.

“Finally, a road map is being planned which could help end the war and move toward peace. For the first time, direct multilateral talks have been planned in the Ukraine-EU-Eurasian Troika format on Aug. 26. And the president of Ukraine is going to Brussels on Aug. 30. It would be good if nothing and nobody could ruin this hope. Keeping our fingers crossed,” deputy presidential chief of staff Valeriy Chaly said in commenting on Poroshenko’s plans on his Facebook account.
