Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has said he has set the task of restoring the work of Ukrainian border checkpoints on country's east and organizing joint patrols together with Russian border guards.

“Consultations between the (Ukrainian and Russian) border guard services and their leadership will start on Saturday (Aug. 30),” the president said during the National Security and Defense Council’s meeting on Aug. 28.

Poroshenko said fulfillment of these tasks was intended to make the entry of military vehicles to Ukrainian territory impossible.
