Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has submitted a draft law on ratification of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement to the Verkhovna Rada.

A report posted on the Verkhovna Rada Web site on Monday said: ‘The draft law on ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine, on one side, and the European Union, the European Nuclear Energy Forum and their member states, on the other side’ was registered on Sept. 15.

The text of the draft law, the explanatory note to it, the text of the international agreement and other supplementary documents have been posted on the parliament Web site.

Ukraine and the European Union signed economic provisions of the Association Agreement in Brussels on June 27 to stipulate the creation of a Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area. The economic provisions of the agreement also envisaged profound economic integration between Ukraine and the European Union.

The Verkhovna Rada and the European Parliament are expected to synchronize the ratification of the Ukraine-EU Association Agreement on Sept. 16.

However, Ukraine and the EU have agreed to defer the Association Agreement’s provision pertaining to the free trade zone for a year, until Dec. 31, 2015.
