You're reading: Poroshenko: Ukrainian companies to produce everything Ukrainian army needs

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said after meeting with security forces in Sloviansk on Tuesday, July 8 that Ukraine will the increase production of its own weapons to meet the needs of servicemen, the press service of the head of state has reported.

“Today Ukrainian production will be loaded with high-precision weapons systems, Ukrainian drones, everything the Ukrainian army needs – from body armor to thermal imagers,” Poroshenko said.

He said that “billions of people’s money” would no longer be spent “on unnecessary research programs.”

Poroshenko said that the first deputy chief of the presidential administration, along with the newly appointed head of Ukroboronprom, representatives of the General Staff, deputy defense ministers and Interior Ministry representatives, would prepare for his approval the amendments to the state defense order.

He said that “the experience gained by the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the National Guard during the fighting in the east” would be used in full during the formation of the defense order.

“The Ukrainian army will be able to fight in an effective, mobile and professional manner,” he said.
