Ukraine is receiving financial aid for equipping its border under 15 international projects, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said.

‘We are currently receiving aid to finance the equipment of the state border under 15 international projects. The overall volume of financing is Hr 500 million,’ Yatsenyuk said at the Hoptivka border checkpoint in the Kharkiv region on Oct. 15.

More than half of this sum (Hr 235 million) has come from the European Union, Yatsenyuk said. ‘Not a single kopeck has been utilized so far. We are going to announce a public tender, and active work will begin after the tender’s completion. The tender will be completed by the end of the year,’ Yatsenyuk said.

The border equipment is currently being financed by the money allocated directly to the Ukrainian State Border Service, and Hr 7 million has been used for this purpose so far, Yatsenyuk said.

In line with the government’s directive, the border equipment project should be implemented within three years, he said.
