You're reading: OSCE specialists start monitoring situation at Malaysian jetliner crash site

The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission in Ukraine has started monitoring the situation at the crash site of the Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 in Donetsk region, the mission's press service told Interfax on Saturday. 

The international observers started monitoring the situation in the area of the crash on Friday, but they have very limited access to the crash site itself, it said.

In particular, mission members were admitted only to some places where the plane’s debris is scattered and were not admitted to victims’ bodies.

The OSCE specialists will continue to monitor the developments at the crash site, it said.

It was reported earlier that 30 OSCE monitors had moved toward the crash site.

A Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 en route from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17, killing all the 298 people aboard.
