“We are asking the leaders of the prominent democratic countries of the world, and international institutions, particularly the OSCE, EU, the Council of Europe, PACE, OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, and others, to decry such antidemocratic actions by the authorities and use all means of leverage to ensure that the leaders of the opposition, Yulia Tymoshenko and Yuriy Lutsenko, can take part in the 2012 parliamentary election campaign,” reads a statement posted on Batkivschyna’s Web site.

The united opposition said that the refusal to register Tymoshenko and Lutsenko as parliamentary candidates “once again shows that the current authorities have openly declared their intention to hold the parliamentary elections in an antidemocratic way.”
