Members of the European Parliament have said they are surprised at the number of rich people's deputies in the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament.

“Anyway, the membership of the Verkhovna Rada looks strange. This
parliament is very distant from common citizens and real Ukrainian
society,” Member of the European Parliament Rebecca Harms said at a
video linkup conference at the Institute of World Policy in Kyiv on
Wednesday, Oct. 10.

According to her, there are many rich deputies “and clans” in the
Ukrainian parliament, and it is very difficult to find ordinary citizens
there.

“You should think about procedures for selecting candidates from parties – the situation should be changed,” she said.
