Well-known football player Andriy Shevchenko, No. 2 on the election list of the Ukraine-Forward! Party, has said he regrets that current young people in Ukraine have almost no opportunity for proper physical education and stressed the importance of addressing this issue.

“Only targeted state support will help resolve this problem. We all
need to make every effort to ensure that our children can return from
the streets to the gyms and football pitches,” the party’s press service
quoted the footballer as saying.

Shevchenko said that without reviving mass sports and the sports
movement, there would be no Olympic medals and healthy people in the
country.

“It will be possible to achieve the best results in sport only when
physical education is a mass activity, when a healthy society becomes a
priority for the state,” he said.

The footballer also added: “I joined the Ukraine-Forward! team to
change the state’s attitude to physical education and sport. If mass
sport develops in the country, our athletes will have victories and
Olympic medals, there will be healthy children and each of us will be
proud of Ukraine!”
