You're reading: Alasania: Incorporation of National Television Company will be held in four stages

The process of transforming the National Television Company of Ukraine from a state organization into a public joint stock company involves four stages, Director General of the National Television Company Zurab Alasania has said.

“Firstly, regional television companies [will] merge with the
National Television Company. Secondly, the National Television Company
will be transformed from a state-run organization into a company.
Thirdly, [there will be] consolidation with the Ukrainian TV Film Studio
Ukrtelefilm. Only the fourth step is the creation of a public joint
stock company,” Alasania said.

This process began last year and the auditing of the company, both internally and nationally, is nearing completion, he added.

When asked lay-offs in the company, Alasania said that no staff cuts have been made.

“A year ago when I came to the National Television Company, there
were 1,522 employees. Now there are 1,520. Really, an actual turnover of
staff was 200 people. I don’t know how many employees there must be –
this is the issue that is being addressed by ad hoc groups. The number
of employees will depend on a future workload,” he said.

Under the law on public television and radio broadcasting of Ukraine,
a public joint stock company called the “National Public TV and Radio
Broadcasting Company of Ukraine,” shall be created, which will be wholly
owned by the state.
