Moscow - The purpose of the Interstate Aviation Committee, which is investigating the circumstances of the crash of the French jet Falcon at the airport Vnukovo, is not to determine the culprit, but an objective investigation, the committee said.

“The purpose of the investigation, which is being conducted by the Interstate Aviation Committee in accordance with ICAO standards, is not to determine anyone’s guilt, which is a prerogative of investigative bodies and the courts, but an objective and independent investigation to determine the cause of this accident,” an IAC official said on Rossiya 24 television on Oct. 22.

The official said on behalf of the IAC that a thorough, independent and objective investigation will be conducted in cooperation with French colleagues and aviation experts. Information on the investigation will be posted on the IAC Web site regularly, he said.
