BRUSSELS - The European Union is set on talks with Russia on simplifying visa regulations.

European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso said at the
Russia-EU summit in Brussels that the objective is to hold talks in the
future on signing an agreement to ease visa regulations with the Russian
Federation. It is important for us to conclude the agreement, he said.

He also indicated that Russia is an important supplier of fuel for EU member-nations.

Barroso added that the common objective of the EU and Russia is to
increase the volume of trade and also to make Russia more competitive on
the European market.
