Minsk - Belarusian opposition groups have been given the go-ahead to hold a Chornobyl Path rally in Minsk in commemoration of the Chornobyl nuclear disaster, Vice Chairman of the Belarusian Popular Front Grigory Kostusev told Interfax.

“We have received the official letter from the Minsk government today allowing us to hold the rally,” Kostusev said.

“However, Minsk officials have asked the organizers to push the rally 30 minutes back to avoid the rush hour. The participants have not been allowed to march on the roads. They may only use the sidewalks, but they have been authorized to carry flags, posters and loudspeakers,” he said.

The Chornobyl Path is traditionally held on the date of the Chornobyl nuclear disaster, April 26.
