The CIS observer mission has found the parliamentary elections held in Kazakhstan on Sunday to be democratic.

"The CIS observer mission has found that the elections held in Kazakhstan meet the national electoral legislation and the universally recognized democratic norms," Vladimir Garkun, the head of the CIS observer mission, told a press conference in Astana on Monday.

Garkun said the mission has come to a conclusion that all conditions guaranteeing good organization of the elections were created in the republic.

"The CIS monitors believe a high level of organization was ensured before and during the elections. The elections had a calm atmosphere," he said.
