Moscow - Georgia is willing to arrange a political dialogue with Russia and is waiting for a reciprocal step from Moscow, says Zurab Abazhidze, the Georgian prime minister's special envoy for normalization of relations with Russia.

“We do not expect quick results and do not cherish illusions on this
account, but perhaps we should begin with a dialogue. And we hope that
Russia would take a reciprocal step. The main obstacle is Moscow’s
recognition of Abkhazia’s and South Ossetia’s independence,” Abashidze
said on Voice of Russia radio.

“This has produced a vicious circle, because Russia will not retract
its decision, and Georgia is not going to abandon its territorial
integrity,” Abashidze said. “But before the parties approach these red
lines, there are a lot of issues that could be settled without special
efforts. This concerns the establishment of humanitarian, cultural, and
trade and economic ties,” he said
