Minsk - Former Belarusian presidential candidate Nikolai Statkevich, who is serving his prison term at a medium-security penitentiary for organizing mass unrest in Minsk on December 19, 2010, will face one more trial, the Vesna human rights center said on its website.

"Marina Adamovich, the wife of the political prisoner [Statkevich], has received an official document from the penitentiary. Statkevich is facing more severe prison conditions for allegedly regular violations of prison discipline," it said.

Statkevich’s trial is scheduled preliminarily for January 12, after which, if found guilty, he could be sent to the Mogilyov prison.

Statkevich, who has been sentenced to six years’ imprisonment, is currently serving his term at the Shklov medium-security penitentiary in the Mogilyov region.
