You're reading: Larry King denies being hired by Russia Today

American TV host Larry King refuted information about him being hired by Russia Today channel, but confirmed that the channel will air his show.

Russia Today announced
on May 29 that King will be hosting a show at the channel. “We have a new host.
Please, don’t faint,” Russia Today’s chief editor Margarita Simonyan wrote in
her Twitter.

The cheer didn’t last
long. On May 30 King explained the conditions of his cooperation with Russia
Today.

“RT (Russia Today) has
not hired me,” he wrote on his Facebook page. “They have licensed my shows, and
will air them on their RT TV station twice per evening starting June 3.”

However, Simonyan keeps
insisting that Russia Today will not only air King’s show produced for Ora TV
(the company King co-owns), but will also have King produce an exclusive
content for Russia Today.

“There are two shows.
The one that is produced and aired by Ora TV, that’s been there for long time,
and we will air it. And there is another one, which will be produced in our
studios exclusively for us,” Simonyan told Echo Moskvy.

In his statement, King
has no mentions of an exclusive show, speaking only about the licensed Ora TV
show. Ora TV’s press release states that, indeed, RT America will air Larry
King Now as well as new talk show Politics with Larry King, which will be
produced in RT’s studios in Washington. At the same time, press release
mentions that both shows will be available online at Hulu.com and Ora TV, which
contravenes Simonyan’s statement about RT’s exclusive right for one of the
shows.
