Minsk – Belarus might start a dialogue on restructuring its foreign debt amid a serious economic crisis, President Alexander Lukashenko said.

“We have to allocate $4 billion this year on [repaying and servicing] our foreign debt. Next year will be somewhat easier, it’s around $1.6 billion to $1.7 billion. But if it turns out hard for us, we’ll start a dialogue on restructuring this debt,” he said.

Lukashenko stressed that Belarus would not like to resort to new borrowings from abroad.
