CHISINAU, Moldova (AP) — Moldova has asked for Russia's help to investigate a car explosion that killed the chairman of Moldova's tennis federation.

Igor Turcan died Monday after a parked Lada car with Russian license plates exploded as he walked out of the tennis federation headquarters in Chisinau, Moldova’s capital, where a minority of the citizens are Russian.

Moldovan Interior Minister Alexei Roibu said Wednesday police have several suspects he declined to identify, and that the cause of the blast remains unknown.

He said he has asked Russian authorities to identify the owner of the car that exploded.

Moldova’s Chief Prosecutor Valeriu Zubco said officials are trying to figure out if Turcan was the target of the explosion.
