You're reading: New Transdniestria leader plans to visit Moscow early next year

TIRASPOL- Transdniestria's President-Elect Yevgeny Shevchuk has said he regards Russia as a strategic partner for the breakaway republic.

"We will promote good neighborly relations with our neighbors, Ukraine and Moldova, deepening the strategic partnership with the Russian Federation," he said at a press conference on Monday.

Addressing the topic of Transdniestrian-Russian relations, Shevchuk said that he planned to pay his first visit abroad as Transdniestria’s president to Moscow.

No date for such a visit was given, but it was reported that it would take place at the beginning of next year.
