You're reading: Police: Greenpeace activists detained in Moscow facing 20,000-ruble fines

Moscow - Greenpeace activists who were detained near the Gazprom headquarters in Moscow on Wednesday while trying to hold a demonstration will face administrative charges for violating regulations on holding mass events, the Moscow city police told Interfax. 

If found guilty, the activists might face fines up to 20,000 rubles.

It was reported on Wednesday that 10 environmentalists from Russia, Germany, Poland and Hungary were detained near the Gazprom headquarters on Namyotkin Street in Moscow while holding a demonstration in defense of the Arctic, during which they unfolded a banner and were posting leaflets.
