One accord is a broad declaration to deepen and diversify trade and economic cooperation. Others specify more cultural contacts, youth exchanges and infrastructure development.

The presidents also agreed to jointly oversee the creation of a permanent memorial to Polish President Lech Kaczynski and the 95 other Poles in Smolensk, Russia, where they died in an April 10 plane crash.

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev started a two-day visit to Poland on Monday aimed at improving the long-troubled ties between the two nations.
