Russia is banning the supplies of meat and ready-made products from three Lithuanian enterprises, the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, Rosselkhoznadzor, said in the preliminary report on the results of the inspection of the Lithuanian enterprises and the country's veterinary system held in May.

The ban applies to pork, beef and other ready-made meat products.

At the same time, two enterprises – a producer of fish and seafood semi-finished products and a producer of beef, pork and poultry semi-finished products – will be included in the list of the Russian suppliers, the report said. However, this will happen only after the Lithuanian veterinary service provides guarantees of rectifying problems uncovered at the two enterprises.

The violations of the veterinary and sanitary standards and standards of the Customs Union show that the Lithuanian veterinary service cannot guarantee the safety of the products at all production stages when certifying the ready-made meat products that are exported to the Customs Union, the report said.

Thus, Rosselkhoznadzor said it was necessary to further study the control system at a large number of Lithuanian enterprises that export ready-made meat products to the Customs Union.
