Moscow - Moscow regrets and is puzzled by the decision of several countries, including the United States, to vote against a proposed anti-Nazi resolution at the 67th session of the UN General Assembly, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on its website on Friday.

“We are strongly perplexed by and regret the fact that the US, Canada and Palau voted against this document, while the delegations of EU member states abstained during the vote on this resolution, which was nonetheless supported by the overwhelming majority of UN member states,” the ministry said.

“The position of Ukraine also deserves regret because it once again preferred to refrain from condemning the glorification of Nazism and from paying respect to those who died fighting against this evil,” it said.

This document condemns any measures to glorify the Nazi movement and former Waffen-SS members, including monuments commemorating them and public demonstrations glorifying Nazi Germany and modern neo-Nazi movements, the ministry said.
